Choosing the correct plugin format for your host machine

Available in all mainstream plugin formats (VST3, AAX, AU), GENOME is poised to become the beating heart of your studio. In the following knowledgebase article we’ll take a look into the factors that will determine which plugin format you should choose based on your host machine and DAW preference.

Download the plugin format supported by your host machine’s operating system.

  • Plug-in formats compatible with native macOS operating systems
    1. VST3 (Virtual Studio Technology)
    2. AAX (Avid Audio eXtension)
    3. AU (Audio Units)
  • Plug-in formats compatible with native Windows Platforms
    1. VST3 (Virtual Studio Technology)
    2. AAX (Avid Audio eXtension)

Fine-tune your plug-in format selection following the requirements dictated by your preferred DAW in which you want to use GENOME

  • VST3 formats are compatible with the following DAWs:
    • Cubase, Nuendo, REAPER, Studio One, Ableton Live, Samplitude, Sequoia, Cakewalk, etc.
  • AAX formats are compatible with the following DAWs:
    • Pro Tools (mandatory due to only supporting AAX format).
  • AU formats are compatible with the following DAWs:
    • Logic Pro (mandatory due to only supporting AU format), REAPER, Studio One, Ableton Live, etc.

Don’t see your DAW mentioned in the list above?

Simply refer to the technical specifications of your preferred DAW and check that it is compatible with either VST3, AAX or AU plugin formats; once noted, simply download the plugin format corresponding to these requirements!
