Using GENOME in Garageband

In the following knowledgebase article we highlight how to configure Garageband for use alongside GENOME.

Setting Up and Configuring Your Audio Interface and DAW

  • As a starting point, connect your Guitar or Bass to a compatible Audio Interface and engage the Hi-Z switch to optimise the interface for instrument-level inputs
  • Please make sure any zero-latency monitoring facilities are disabled on your interface if present in order that you only monitor GENOME via Garageband.

Creating a Track and Loading GENOME

  • As a first step, make sure Audio Units are enabled by following GarageBand > Settings > Instruments and effects - here make sure the check box entitled “Enable Audio Units” is ticked.
  • To create an Audio Track, click Track > New Track from the main menu.
  • Choose your track type by selecting the option specialised for connection of a Guitar or Bass to Garageband.
  • To load GENOME, first select the option to Show Smart Controls by pressing B or via the main menu following View > Show Smart Controls
  • Then, in the Smart Control Panel, open the Plugin menu and follow Audio Unit > Two Notes Audio Engineering > GENOME
  • Finally, to enable track monitoring, open the Smart Control Panel for the track in question and click the Monitoring Button next to “Monitoring”
